The main research areas of the laboratory include Cooperative Computing, Collaborative Communication Technology, Software Cooperation Technology, Software Programming Method, Software Component Technology, Software Reliability Analysis and Optimization; Computer Network and Communication, Network Security and Management, Distribution Computing; Computer Military Simulation Technology, Embedded System Technology, Femtosecond Laser Controlling Technology, Virtual Reality Technology.

The research group has carried out 21 national projects (including "863" programs, National key Technology R&D programs and National Natural Science Foundation projects), 20 province and ministry projects, 45 national defense projects, 2 international joint projects and more than 20 enterprise cooperation projects. In recent years, the group published more than 160 papers in important journals and international conferences, of which 131 papers have been indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP, published 7 books and textbooks, and hold 11 software copyrights. The group has been awarded with 3 first prizes of province award for science and technology achievements, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize of ministry award for science and technology achievements, and 1 second prize of award for science and technology achievements of Changchun city. More than 230 post doctors, doctoral students and master students graduated from this team.
