赵健，博士，现任加拿大滑铁卢大学计算机科学学院助理教授，指导WatVis（滑铁卢可视化）研究小组。他同时是滑铁卢人工智能研究所的成员。博士毕业于多伦多大学计算机科学系。他的研究方向集中于信息可视化，人机交互和数据科学的交叉运用。他致力于开发交互式的可视化系统来优化现实中复杂数据问题的分析流程。他曾获得多个奖项，包括NSERC Discovery Grant Accelerator奖以及六项全球顶级会议的最佳论文和最佳论文提名奖（例如VIS，CHI和MobileHCI）。他曾多次参与许多世界一流学术会议的程序委员会（例如VIS和CHI）并在其组织委员会中担任组织领导职务（例如VIS，PacificVis，ChinaVis和ISVC）。此外，他还曾在多家一流业界实验室工作过（包括Microsoft，IBM和Adobe研究院等）。他已有十多项专利，其中一些已成功应用在产品中。有关更多信息，请访问他的个人网站：www.jeffjianzhao.com。
报告内容简介：
Every day, we are continuously generating a huge amount of data in different forms. While many automatic methods have been proposed to extract insights, a tremendous number of tasks are still ill-defined, vague, and exploratory. This calls for more effective and tighter collaboration between humans and machines. My research takes a step to address this issue using visualization techniques that are predictive, as enabled by machine learning, interactive, as embedded in UI designs, and expressive, as needed for presenting data. I am going to showcase a few example projects situated in a range of real-world applications, such as data exploration, video recommendation, and network analysis. I will also outline a few interesting future directions for using visualization to enhance general data analytical workflows.
