从事计算机科学技术研究及高等教育40年。在吉林大学计算机科学系先后任助教、讲师；美国罗格斯大学博士、博士后，先后任助研、助理教授，美国朗讯公司贝尔实验室资深研究员，美国IBM研究中心资深研究员，美国新泽西癌症研究所客座研究员, 吉林大学客座教授、兼职教授、博士导师，烟台大学客座教授，郑州航空工业管理学院兼职教授，烟台威兹曼智能信息技术有限公司首席顾问。
主要从事机器智能、知识表达及系统、语义建模、模式识别、图像分析及分类、医学信息学等领域的研究，担任过多项重点科研和技术开发项目的主要负责人、曾任中国教育部春辉计划海外顾问。
报告摘要：
Today, AI is a hottest area of research and business alongside (Big) Data, which is mostly focusing on deep learning, speech recognition and computer vision. Interestingly enough, an area once at the center of AI research known as knowledge representation and knowledge systems has been taking a back seat if not largely ignored. Such phenomena is very intriguing but also disturbing. In this talk, I will use simple examples to examine, from an AI system point of view, data, knowledge and their relationships, hoping more AI researchers will re-recognize the value of and the urgent need for knowledgeable AI systems.
